While WIND’s plans weren’t as impressive as I hoped, their phone selection and prices for these phones are quite amazing.  Most people would probably think I’m crazy: $450 for a Blackberry when it’s $200 at Rogers?  Here’s the difference: with WIND, you are forced to lock into a contract and you do not need a Blackberry plan.  Rogers recuperates their cost of providing “cheaper” phones through year plans and add-ons.  In fact, purchasing phones from WIND at those prices are what many places in the world do.  Finally, a company in North America that does things right.

Note, I can buy a phone from WIND, then leave for Rogers, not that I’m sure you would want to do that looking at the plans.  By the way, Rogers sells the exact same blackberry for $599.00 without contract.  See the difference?

I did mention about their plans.  Yes, they aren’t exactly impressive, but they are certainly not bad and quite cheap compared to the big 3 (Telus & Koodo, Bell & Virgin, Rogers & Fido).  $15 per month buys you 100 minutes with unlimited WIND to WIND chat (not that there are many WIND users right now) and 50 outgoing texts (notice: doesn’t include incoming).  Always talk gives you unlimited minutes and 50 texts at $35.  An additional $10 makes texting unlimited.  I wish for more texting plans or add-ons, but that kind of service can easily be implemented later on.
